IREX (also known as IREX Group or Irrigation Excellence) is a prominent international industrial group specializing in smart and sustainable irrigation solutions.

Created in 2022 by the Italian private equity firm Aksìa Group, IREX was established as a consolidation platform to bring together highly specialized companies in the irrigation sector. Its primary mission is to promote the intelligent use of water through "Precision Irrigation" and "Agriculture 4.0" technologies.

The group operates as a system integrator, manufacturer, and distributor, offering a complete vertical supply chain:

  • Design & Engineering: Developing custom-made irrigation systems for large-scale agriculture, landscaping, and sports facilities (like football pitches and golf courses).

  • Manufacturing: Producing critical components such as dripline tapes, filters, galvanized pipes and plastic molds.

  • Smart Technology: A significant part of their business involves remote monitoring and digital control systems, allowing farmers and managers to control irrigation via radio frequency or Bluetooth.

The strength of IREX lies in the specialized companies it has acquired and integrated:

  • Scarabelli Irrigazione: The "commercial soul" and lead subsidiary, focused on large-scale system design and distribution.

  • Giunti: A historic leader in traditional irrigation, specializing in water transport and galvanized steel pipes.

  • Europlast & FGR: Specialized in the high-tech production of drippers and plastic molding for irrigation lines.

  • Samcla: A Spanish tech company providing the group’s "smart" edge through remote-controlled hardware and software.

  • Acquafert. Specialized in irrigation systems installation and pivot production.

  • RIS Iberia: A major recent acquisition (mid-2025) that solidified the group's presence in Spain and Portugal.

The group has a massive presence in Europe (Italy, France, Spain) and has expanded into Latin America (Chile) and Africa. Its business model is built on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, specifically targeting the reduction of water waste in agriculture to combat global water scarcity. The group has seen rapid growth, with a turnover surpassing €70 million following its aggressive acquisition strategy.
