Rhenus takes over Italian forwarding company Cesped
400 Cesped employees move more than 5 million consignments per year at 13 sites and manage 41,000 m² of storage space.
Rhenus Logistics signed a purchase agreement on 17 December 2018 for the acquisition of 100 per cent of the share capital of Cesped SpA and its affiliates. The purchase is subject to the approval of the relevant antitrust authorities.
“Bringing together two family businesses in this way offers great potential for further development and opportunities for customers,” said Guido Restelli, managing director of Rhenus Logistics in Italy and future member of the Cesped management team.
Thanks to Cesped’s strong presence in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, the Rhenus Group is strengthening its position in the Italian and European road transport market. At the same time, the Air & Ocean activities will be further developed.
Taking into account the history, significance, geographic coverage and specificities of their businesses, Cesped, Nuova Transport and Rhenus Logistics will continue to operate in Italy with their own brands, structures and partner networks.
The Rhenus Group is a global logistics service provider with 29,000 employees at 610 sites and EUR 4.8 billion in annual sales. The business units Contract Logistics, Freight Logistics, Port Logistics and Public Transport stand for the management of complex supply chains and innovative value-added services.
